For the next visitation, I think I want to tell 2 things to our children.
As for the first point, as I can find a lot in children’s letters, topics are mixed up in one letter.
For example, Hello, I am in the 4th grade in such and such primary school. How is the weather in your country, hot or cold? I got the 1st place in my class. I like a math class. It’s the dry season now in Cambodia.
But it shall be neater as a composition to put sentences of the same kind of topics together. The 4th grade, which is about a school grade, the 1st place, which is about a school record, and a math, which is about a school subject are all information regarding a school. So put them together. The sentences, “how is the weather in your country” and “it’s the dry season now” are both information about the weather, and so put them together.
For a practice for children to categorize topics, I think I make a composition with 8-10 sentences of various topics.
As for the 2nd point, a basic form of a sentence consists of 5w1H: who, what, when, where, why, and how. I’ll ask children to make sentences along with this basic pattern. For example as one of our staffs to be a model, children can describe him or her, what kind of person is doing what in what way at which time at what place for what reason.
