At our visitations, whenever I found children who wrote English words on their envelopes (their names in English spelling, To Mom, etc.), I asked them if they were learning English or if they could even speak.
There are not yet many children who write English, and I remember I asked this question to one girl a few months ago. Through a volunteer interpreter, I just got her reply that she was learning English at school but that she couldn’t speak much. Still, I remember I felt positive to keep speaking to her and encouraging her henceforward.
And this time, I found that she wrote a letter in English!! I was so amazed!! She is the 3rd person who writes a letter in English among our foster children. Some sentences are a bit awkward as she is just a beginner but I can see that she put her heart in the letter. Above all, her sense of advancement is truly great.
