With that reason (written yesterday), we decided to put a washing-hand guidance as a complementary program not a main program of the activity. As a main program, we requested the volunteer students group to teach children about dietary / nutrition education.
Food can be generally divided into 3 groups according to the nutrition:
✦Food to produce energy [Yellow] à Carbohydrates, lipids etc.
✦Food to produce body (muscle, bone, blood) [Red] à Proteins, daily products etc.
✦Food to condition the body functions [Green] à Vegetables, fruits etc.
Students will give out such knowledge to children.
It is not easy for people in poor communities or families to eat well balanced meals every day. But at least children will learn that familiar food that they are usually eating plays such and such roles in their bodies. And basing on it, it would be great if children get an idea not to be a fussy eater.
At the same time we shall also tell them to chew well and appreciate food and the person who cook. And then, we shall tell remind them to clean their hands before meals. We shall connect the food class to a hygiene class in this way.
