In 2024, we selected a new location to increase the number of children with educational opportunities, and our education program began in the new location in Kampong Speu province with 3 children.  As our supporters expanded, we had 10 more children by spring 2025, and 4 more new children were able to join the program this winter.

This is our 3rd time making crafts there.  We've made programs that involve cutting and pasting before, but this time children tried making an easy pop-up cards.  Since there were some new children, the crafts to make were very simple ones: when you open the card, the folds inside spreads outward.

First, we made a card with the folded parts representing arms and hands, with the snowman spreading his arms as the card is opened.  Of course, if the children have imagination, they can draw anything other than a snowman, such as a person or an animal.

Once that was completed, as a review we had the children create another card using the same pop-up system.  On this second card, we asked them to write down their most memorable experience from 2025.

The first thing we realized was that children are not used to measuring length with a ruler.  This is not limited to this area, by the way.  Even if students start using rulers in the lower grades and learn how to use them, there are no practical opportunities to apply them.  Compensating for such a local situation in the educational field is one of the important activities we can do.

The essays on the cards are about things you are proud of and things you want to praise yourself for.  Even if it's not something they can be openly proud of, we wanted them to be free to write about
