By mind mapping, I believe children can get out from a monotonous writing style like the past even if its theme is as simple as “self-introduction.” Until now, I saw many children who wrote names, birthdays, and grades with school names and stop their pens. They don’t know what to write. However, if they can dig down each subject, I am sure that deeper and wider contents will come out.
Putting oneself in a center, a child shall think what are around of him/herself. Family, a house, a garden, then trees in the garden, and then mango trees bear fruits in spring, and on and on, many things will come up in his/her mind one after another.
Of course we should guide them in the beginning how to dig down or develop each subject. Next time, as an extension of this time’s lesson, I hope we can keep longer time for our children to expand their mind maps and to write more enriched compositions.
