Cambodia is now in the season of Pchumben. This is exactly like Bon festival/Obon in Japan, a Buddhist festival to honor the spirit of ancestors. Pchumben is from 16th to 18th of this month. From the 3rd to the 15th, there is a period called Kan Ben to bring an offering to the temple.
It is usually a long Pchumben holiday. The school was closed all this year due to covid19 confusion, but it seems that the school will finally resume after this festival.
We went to the island for activities, but first of all, following the culture we visited the temples in this area and made offerings. It was also an opportunity for volunteer students who accompanied with us to deepen their thoughts on the customs of Pchumben.
