A charitable organization in the US kindly donated a box-full of English picture books and easy novels to our children.
Books are really good tools to learn. Books which explain animal lives with clear pictures can provide children with a new knowledge of that organism beside with an opportunity to study English. That should be an interesting content for them in rural and remote areas that science classes are not common at schools.
Children can also learn from books about foreign cultures such as Christmas and about unfamiliar customs such as celebrating a birthday even for adults among a family or friends.
If fantasy books narrate about dinosaurs, which these children have never seen even through a book or a TV, or about an inventor producing imaginary inventions, or about a starship travelling to planets, reading those stories will be definitely a good stimulation for them.
We will lend these books out to the children of our activity areas. And we will collect them back at our subsequent visitation and then children can borrow different books. It’s a mobile library that we’ve wanted to do. I looked back my old days when I was personally wondering which English book I should let them read, give them as gifts… I am sure that this mobile library will widen the range of possibilities for children.
