Plan in December (1)

We had a meeting with staffs to talk about activity contents of our next visit to the foster children.

Last time children wrote about their family.  One of our staffs had suggested that “family” would be an easy theme to write about, and so that children would easily try out.  What kind of appearance, what do they do daily, what do children talk with them usually…etc.  It turned out children couldn’t write much about each family member, though.  But it’s all right, because this was their 1st practice to write a composition.

So now for the 2nd composition, we discussed which topic is good.  The purpose of this composition is to continuously cultivate their writing skills with joyful heart.

We thought children could write about their houses and gardens for the next practice.  Each child lives in a different house and garden.  They may describe an appearance of the house, rooms, things in an each room, trees in a garden, domestic animals and so on.  There should be a lot of things to write.  Children would have little time to wonder “what to write.”

In the meantime, we got another new opinion.  A staff pointed out that it would be hard for children (smaller ages) to describe something they don’t see at the moment.  It would be hard to reflect back something not there.

This means, we should prepare items in front of children or we should take out children to the field.  It may be interesting to let them write down what they feel and see outside.  Once we get enough time and staffs, this will be possible.
