To be pleased

We have found there shall be some budget available to prepare gifts to our foster children for our next visitation. It would have been great if we could prepare school bags but the budget was not enough to get “nice” school bags.

We were thinking what should be good instead of bags. There is no art materials in remote areas, and we wondered if children would be happy with sets of colorful pens.

However in such poor areas, I’ve learned that we should also think what PARENTS wish not only what children want. It seems that parents are happy if their children get something directly relates to study, if not clothes or shoes or food.

While respecting that idea, we chose 3 things: a letter-size zipper pouch to carry study materials, a pencase, and a correction pen. Children sometimes use a ballpoint pen instead of a pencil and in that case they need a correction pen.

Especially a nice, big pouch cannot be found around the area where the children are living. We were satisfied that we were able to prepare good gifts for them.
