I searched how children in other nations train their writing skills. I wanted to introduce some practices or practical games to our foster children to improve their writing ability.
I found an interesting mental exercise for kids to make a sentence. Of course it’s not merely to make a normal sentence. The first letter of consisting words of the sentence should be in Alphabetical order. For example, “An Apple Bounces on a Cold Desk where Elephants Fight.” or something like that. It doesn’t matter if the sentence makes sense or not. It’s an exercise to bring out vocabularies, and a completed sentence will be amazing not just funny when children’s imagination is fully mobilized.
We shall ask children to do this game in Cambodian language of course. Still, this may be too difficult for our children in the beginning. We can play a word association game for a warm up. Citing favorite animals, edible wild plants, familiar English words etc will be helpful enough to expand their vocabularies, I guess.
